SCULPTORS

T Barny

Born in San Francisco in 1956, Barny took his BFA from Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI. He originally worked with many different materials; from glass to clay to metal, always returning to the oldest material that man has sculpted from: stone. For the past 20 years he has had a love affair with marble, listening to the rhythm of a piece, rather than imposing his own, carving out the flaws of geological tension to release a sound free form inherent to that specific stone. His works include wall hangings, carvings, fountains and his trademark curvilinear pieces. He has exhibited in distinctive galleries from Chicago to Santa Fe to California and can be found in the collections at the California Museum of Art, the Rhode Island School of Design Museum of Art and the Denison University Art Center.
