One of the finest American contemporary realist
painters, Dixon has painted the Northern California coastal landscape
for 35 years. These paintings have been referred to as 'visual hymns'
and do indeed have a quality of reverence. This same sensitivity
can also be found in his spare, mellifluous still-lifes. Educated
at Cornell University, the Art Students League in NY, the Brooklyn
Museum School, he took his MFA in California in l969 at the San
Francisco Art Institute. His works can be found in numerous distinctive
private and public collections, as well as The San Francisco Museum
of Modern Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Oakland Museum
and the Utah Museum of Fine Art.
