Robert Peterson

Peterson's affinity for Eastern thought is evident in the Zen like quiet of
his compositions. His pastels are elegant, simple and powerful, all at the same time. As a child he gradually lost his hearing and his teachers allowed him to draw instead of follow the regular class activities, an arrangement that eventually resulted in him attending Galludet College in Washington, DC and the University of New Mexico. However, his commanding artistic skill has been gained primarily through experience. Without the distraction of external noise, Peterson has been able to spend long expanses of time at his easel, silently absorbing the visual interactions of shape, color and space and creating exquisite drawings. With a career of over 31 years, Peterson's work can be found in significant museums, public and private collections throughout the country.
