Melissa Chandon

Chandon considers herself to be an abstract realist painter. Her work could be best described as “Americana meets Pop Art”. Her objective is to create a body of art work that invites the viewer to consider the nobility that lurks just beneath the surface of common things; noble because these same things are nothing less than incarnations of the American dream.” She was educated at University of Minnesota, Santa Clara University and the State University of New York. However, she perfected her art at the University of California under the mentoring of Wayne Thiebaud, who comments, "She has developed an effective synthesis of abstract and representational elements in her works. This gives the works an intensity and raw graphic power to behold." Chandon's works can be found in may prestigious public and private collections.
