Cleveland born (l947) and educated at the Cleveland
Institute of Art, Gary Bukovnik has lived in San Francisco for over
20 years. Gary’s botanicals convey a monumental quality; primarily
using the mediums of watercolor, monotype and lithograph, he fuses
sensual vitality with fluid, powerful colorations, creating floral
images of great depth and intensity. His many solo exhibitions range
from the Neuhoff Gallery in NY, the Ann Jacob Gallery in Atlanta,
GA and the Takashimaya in Tokyo, Japan. His work is represented
in diverse public and private collections, such as the Metropolitan
Museum of Art, NY, The Smithsonian in Washington, DC, Bank of America
and A.T. and T. Since l982, the San Francisco Symphony has commissioned
his art for their Fall posters. Other organizations who include
his work in their publications are Refugees International the New
York Metropolitan Opera and Project Open Hand.
