Adele sees her paintings as archeology in reverse.
An archaeologist reveals the details of how people lived by carefully
removing layer after layer of dirt and artifacts from a site. Similarly,
Sypesteyn works in patterns and other painted artifacts are offered
to the viewer in layers. Her paintings evoke the slow, accumulated
and interactive effects of weather, erosion, and the visual marks
of people's lives playing themselves out on a wall. Sypesteyn took
her BA in Art from Newcomb College, New Orleans, LA and her MSW
from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. She has over 400 works
represented in private and collections.
