Ginnever
Large-scale abstract sculptor, Charles Ginnever
was born in California and educated in both Europe and the US, taking
his BFA at the San Francisco Art Institute. He shared studio space
with Peter Forakis, Manuel Neri and Tom Hardy, beginning an association
that would change the art world in years to come. Their impact would
serve to move the public from favoring representational sculpture
to embracing the bold and abstract. Ginnever earned his MFA from
Cornell University. His sculpture career has spanned nearly 47 years
and his many commissions and awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship,
three grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, and a sculpture
titled “The Bird (for Charlie Parker)” commissioned
by the Virlane Foundation in New Orleans, LA. His work has been
widely exhibited and collected.
